It's our Anniversary!

Today, Dan and I are celebrating our 1 year wedding anniversary! I can't believe a year has gone by. I also can't believe that 13 years ago Dan and I started dating.

Meist-
You have made me the happiest woman and I could not imagine my life without you. Every day is simply lovely. Every day is full of laughs. Every day I wonder how I got so damn lucky.
Thank you for loving me the way you do.
I love you ster!

I made a slideshow of our photos that captures our beautiful wedding day.
It's pretty long because I didn't want to cut too many photos out, so please watch when you have time. :)

Baking Cake

Yes, I can bake! Even though Dan does most... okay all of the cooking and baking in our house, I enjoy baking and will occasionally bake something yummy.

I've been craving Carrot Cake for awhile, so I decided to attempt Alton Brown's recipe. I'm someone who hates raisins and I tend to pick out all of the raisins from other carrot cakes, so this was the perfect carrot cake recipe! It was delicious!

But anything I can do, Dan can do better! :) Dan made flan a few weeks ago. It was also delicious! It was definitely the best we've had since we last had it at an El Torito restaurant in SoCal.

Traveling with my "kids"

We went to the farmhouse for Easter.
Car trips with our "kids" can sometimes be a little crazy.
They have a car seat in backseat that they are strapped to and a bed on each side of the car seat because it is more comfortable. During the ride they eventually jump to one bed or the other.
They are always fighting about which bed they want.

Sissy decided she would join her brother in his bed. Baby Dan was not happy.

Sissy adjusts some more. She's probably thinking, "Gosh, this bed sure is lumpy".
Baby Dan was still not happy. He growled at her a couple of times.

His eyes are saying "Mom, Sissy is sitting on me. Tell her to get off".

Finally, Sissy gets off her brother and they both rest for like 5 minutes.
Sissy will then decide this bed is too crowded and leave.

Garden Update

Chihuahua Berry Farms is looking great this spring!

Strawberries are blooming!

We have a lot of Bell Peppers this season.

They are some good looking Bell Peppers!

More Fennel. I hate the stuff, but D loves it. :)

Easter Egg Radishes are sprouting!

2 delicious cherry tomatoes
Leeks are doing good. They take a long time, but they should be ready come Fall.

Lemons and Limes are coming along great!
We have about 10 lemons and 8 limes. That's 8 more limes than we had last season. :)
I'm hoping they all make it and the birds don't pick at them.
(This pic was taken a few weeks back, so they are a tiny bit bigger now.)

Yummy Cauliflower

Baby Spinach

Carrots

Orange & Purple carrots

Pretty purple carrot
Rainbow Swiss Chard

Swiss Chard
Rhubarb
First strawberry of the season!

And the 2nd strawberry of the season!
Soon we will be adding a new box to our garden! We need a bigger yard. :)
We will be adding more berries (blackberries & raspberries for sure and maybe blueberries) to our garden.
Dan is going to try to grow corn. That's right, we will have a mini corn field in our backyard. :)

The Flowers are Sprouting!

I've been meaning to blog about our flower bed. Dan planted peonies, ranunculus, and dahlias. These flowers made up my wedding bouquet and the centerpieces at our wedding!

The dahlias were the first to begin sprouting.

Then, the ranunculus began to sprout.
But the peonies weren't sprouting.
This is our flower bed, without any peonies sprouting. :(
We even added more peonies because we thought maybe the first ones we planted were duds.

Then, the peonies FINALLY sprouted!!! I guess it just takes longer for them to sprout.
Peonies are my favorite flower, so I was hoping if anything grew it would be them.

One day we're going to expand the flower bed. I think it's too small for everything we have in there. :)
