Update on Sissy Roo

Sissy's Meds (cough medicine, heart pills, pain pills, allergy med)

I thought it was time to give an update on my #1 chick. I think the last time was here. But then last July the vet recommended we see a cardiologist because Sissy was experiencing some labored breathing. The cardiologist then started Sissy on Theophylline.

Last week Sissy had her 6-month follow-up appt. with the cardiologist and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. She has some fluid in one of her lungs. :`( It's hard hearing those words, but she's a tough little girl. The good news is that her heart isn't as enlarged as it once was so those other medications are working. They've now added Lasik to her daily med. schedule. She eats her breakfast/dinner and knows that her pills soon follow. She's okay with Vetmedin (Pimobendan) & Enalapril, but I have to shove the other 2 (Theophylline & Lasik) down her throat. I've seen little to no change in her labored breathing and I'm waiting to hear back from the cardiologist on what the next step is. We try our best to keep her from getting too high-stressed, but it's kind of hard to do that when she hates car rides to the vet.

Baby Dan is still going strong. It's funny, between the 2, Baby Dan has the worst sounding heart murmur, but is showing no symptoms (cough, labored breathing etc.). Thank goodness!

They started out on Pure Vita dog food, but are now on Holistic Select w/carrots on the side. :)

In funny news, my #1 chick has major gas! My god she can vacate a room. No joke. And loud. Wow. You'd think it was a human spewing that stuff. Could it be the carrots?

If you can spare any, continued vibes would be appreciated for our little girl. :)

Years of education & no career

High school diploma
Bachelor's degree in Psychology
Master's degree in Marriage and Family Therapy
(from kinder to graduate school--a total of 20 years of schooling)

and what do I have to show for it? Not.a.damn.thing.
Well I guess I have the education and those pieces of paper that show I've accomplished something in my 31 years of life.

Frustration, Anger, Embarrassment, Guilt are just some of the feelings I'm having right now.
I'm currently unemployed and haven been for quite some time. It's nobody's fault, but my own. I have a love/hate relationship with the field I chose to get into. I find myself wondering how I got here.

My mother says she's proud of me and I wonder why. How could you be proud of me? What have I done to make you proud?

For now I've given up on the idea of having a career and I'm just looking for a J-O-B. Why am I not getting any call backs? Is it because I'm "over-qualified" or is it just because I haven't worked in a few years or is both? Ugh. Either way it sucks!

Okay. I'm done whining. Time to put my big girl panties on and continue to send my resume out. This girl was not made to be a housewife!

My love for owls

Or maybe it's an obsession. :)

My love for owls first began when I was a little girl. These owls belonged to my grandma and she saw that I loved them so much she gave them to my mom and my mom recently passed them down to me. I used to call them "grama grama" and every night before I went to bed I had to give them a kiss.

I have notepads around the house with owls on the them.

My mama bought me these cute amigurumi (the Japanese art of knitting or crocheting small stuffed animals) owls.
and this super cute photo album.

And I recently bought an owl catchall. Love it!

Now I have my own catchall. :)
This used to be Dan's grandpa's catchall. Dan now puts his wedding band around the tail. Cute huh?

I now frequent this blog and go crazy over the stuff she shares. If money were no object I would buy everything!
