Sissy's Meds (cough medicine, heart pills, pain pills, allergy med)
I thought it was time to give an update on my #1 chick. I think the last time was here. But then last July the vet recommended we see a cardiologist because Sissy was experiencing some labored breathing. The cardiologist then started Sissy on Theophylline.
Last week Sissy had her 6-month follow-up appt. with the cardiologist and was diagnosed with congestive heart failure. She has some fluid in one of her lungs. :`( It's hard hearing those words, but she's a tough little girl. The good news is that her heart isn't as enlarged as it once was so those other medications are working. They've now added Lasik to her daily med. schedule. She eats her breakfast/dinner and knows that her pills soon follow. She's okay with Vetmedin (Pimobendan) & Enalapril, but I have to shove the other 2 (Theophylline & Lasik) down her throat. I've seen little to no change in her labored breathing and I'm waiting to hear back from the cardiologist on what the next step is. We try our best to keep her from getting too high-stressed, but it's kind of hard to do that when she hates car rides to the vet.
Baby Dan is still going strong. It's funny, between the 2, Baby Dan has the worst sounding heart murmur, but is showing no symptoms (cough, labored breathing etc.). Thank goodness!
They started out on Pure Vita dog food, but are now on Holistic Select w/carrots on the side. :)
In funny news, my #1 chick has major gas! My god she can vacate a room. No joke. And loud. Wow. You'd think it was a human spewing that stuff. Could it be the carrots?
If you can spare any, continued vibes would be appreciated for our little girl. :)
